How planetary movements are read for a trading week
- Each day: the nature of the Moon’s nakshatra at the opening bell (fixed, swift and gentle stars read steady; fierce and sharp stars read watchful).
- Each sector: the strength of its ruling planet: exalted or in its own sign helps; debilitated, combust or retrograde weighs on it.
- The country: the week’s planets on the national chart, and any slow planet (Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu, Ketu) passing over its birth Moon.

Mercury retrograde and the stock market
Mercury rules IT, telecom, media and trading itself. About three times a year it appears to move backwards for roughly three weeks. The tradition reads these weeks as a time to re-check rather than rush: contracts, communication and technology. Coming periods: 9 Feb 2027 – 3 Mar 2027; 10 Jun 2027 – 5 Jul 2027; 7 Oct 2027 – 28 Oct 2027.
Jupiter, Saturn and Rahu–Ketu: the slow planets
The slow planets set the long backdrop. Jupiter (finance) spends about a year in a sign, Saturn (industry, oil) about two and a half years, and Rahu and Ketu about eighteen months, always moving backwards. Their sign changes are the big dates in the tradition: Jupiter enters Simha · 31 Oct 2026; Rahu enters Makara, Ketu Karkata · 5 Dec 2026; Jupiter enters Karkata (exalted) · 25 Jan 2027; Saturn enters Mesha (debilitated) · 3 Jun 2027.
Stock market prediction by astrology: what it can and cannot tell you
There is no scientific evidence that it can, and markets do not follow the sky. Financial astrology is a traditional way of reading the planets, used by many as a cultural lens. It is not investment advice: please make money decisions with a licensed adviser.
What this page offers is the classical reading, calculated the same way every week for India and the USA, so you can see what the tradition says alongside your own research.
Questions
What is financial astrology?
Financial astrology reads the planets for markets, money and the economy. In the Vedic tradition it is part of Medini Jyotisha, the astrology of nations: each planet is linked to sectors of the economy, and its transits are read against the horoscope of a country and its markets.
How is Vedic financial astrology different from Western?
Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac (here with the Lahiri ayanamsa), so planets sit about 24° earlier than in Western (tropical) charts, and it gives weight to the Moon’s nakshatra, Rahu and Ketu, and the classical strengths of each planet (exaltation, own sign, combustion, retrograde).
Which planet is good for the stock market?
There is no single planet. The tradition links Jupiter to banks and finance, Mercury to IT and trading, Venus to autos and luxury, Mars to metals and real estate, Saturn to oil and heavy industry, the Sun to government companies and the Moon to FMCG and public mood. A planet that is exalted or in its own sign is read as supporting its sectors.
When is Mercury retrograde?
Coming Mercury retrograde periods: 9 Feb 2027 – 3 Mar 2027; 10 Jun 2027 – 5 Jul 2027; 7 Oct 2027 – 28 Oct 2027. The tradition links them to IT, telecom and trading, and advises re-checking contracts and communication.
Can astrology predict the stock market?
There is no scientific evidence that it can, and markets do not follow the sky. Financial astrology is a traditional way of reading the planets, used by many as a cultural lens. It is not investment advice: please make money decisions with a licensed adviser.
Does India have a horoscope?
Yes. Mundane astrologers use independence, 15 August 1947 at midnight in Delhi: Vrishabha (Taurus) lagna, with the Moon in Karkata (Cancer) in Pushya nakshatra. For the USA the most used chart is 4 July 1776, about 5:10 PM in Philadelphia: Vrishchika lagna with the Lahiri ayanamsa.
