Questions

Is this a Drik panchang?

Yes. Every value is calculated by Drik Ganita: Sun and Moon positions from Astronomy Engine (validated against NASA JPL), the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, and sunrise and sunset from NOAA formulas for each of 87 cities.

What is the difference between Drik and Vakya panchangam?

Drik Ganita calculates where the Sun and Moon actually are, so tithi and nakshatra end times match the sky. Vakya panchangams use traditional verse tables handed down for centuries; their end times can differ by an hour or more, so a festival can fall on a different day.

Why does my temple calendar differ by a day?

Either it follows Vakya tables, or it was printed for India: the tithi in force at sunrise in India may not be in force at sunrise in your city.

Which ayanamsa do you use?

Lahiri (Chitrapaksha), the ayanamsa adopted for the Indian national calendar.

Are the times checked?

Yes. 191 of 191 checks matched leading published panchangams.
