About Global Panchang

Everything is calculated in your browser for the selected location. Sunrise and sunset use the NOAA solar formulas; tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana and the Moon's position use the open-source Astronomy Engine with the Lahiri ayanamsa; fasting days and festivals follow traditional rules, cross-checked against leading published panchangams. Astronomy Engine is tested against NASA JPL Horizons to within 1 arcminute. Panchangams differ in how they define sunrise and in some rules, so times may differ from your family panchangam or temple calendar by a few minutes, and some traditions observe a vrat or festival a day apart. Varjyam and Amrit Kalam appear in the detailed monthly calendar. This is for devotional and informational use only. For weddings, griha pravesham and other important muhurtams, please confirm with your priest or a trusted panchangam.
